LaTrella Thornton has been the director of the Child Development and Family Services Center since 1993.

She holds a Bachelors degree and a Masters degree in Early Childhood Education and a Masters degree in Supervision and Administration in Education.

She has served as Chair of the Child Care Council at the City University of New York. Currently, she is a member of the CUNY Child Care Advisory Committee, the Board of Directors of the National Coalition for Campus Children’s Centers, and is a member of the Universal Pre-Kindergarten Advisory Board for District 5 New York City Public School.

LaTrella is also an Adjunct Lecturer in the Early Childhood Education Masters Program at City College.
