Welcome to the MA program in Economics in the Colin Powell School for Civic and Global Leadership!
The MA program in Economics prepares students with the theoretical and analytical methods that can be applied to business and management positions, finance, public policy and international institutions. The program integrates economic theory, quantitative methods, and practical applications and it offers these specializations:
- Business Management
- Public Economics
- Chinese Economy
Our faculty is internationally recognized for their excellence in teaching and path-breaking research working in areas such as finance, entrepreneurship, leadership, international economics and trade, econometrics, environmental studies and the study of scientific networks within organizations. Some of our outstanding students have been admitted to Ph.D programs at top-ranking universities. Our graduates have gone on to jobs with excellent companies around the world.
The MA program in Economics within the Colin Powell School provides tutoring, career services, teaching assistant positions and research assistant positions within the department. In addition, the program offers scholarship awards for outstanding students.
Fall Admissions Deadline: April 20
Spring Admissions Deadline: Middle of November
Non-Matriculated Students are allowed to take classes in the program.
Schedule of Classes: Classes are scheduled late afternoons and evenings.
Total Credits Required for Degree: 36 without thesis or 33 credits plus M.A dissertation (3 credits).
Duration of Program: Most students take one and half or two full academic years to complete the program.
Degree Awarded: MA in Economics
GRE: Not Required for Admission
Minimum TOEFL: All applicants from countries in which the official language is not English are required to submit official TOEFL or IELTS scores [500 (pBt), 61 (iBt)]
Minimum GPA: 3.0 or above.
