  1. “Bookmaking & Non-Fiction Writing” (20 CTLE credits)
    August 6-7-8
    Cost: $750
    Through hands-on experiences creating books, K– 5 classroom teachers will develop skills and strategies for integrating the Visual Arts with Language Arts.  In this workshop, K-5 teachers will become familiar with art-making processes by crafting a class book and an independent non-fiction book. Attendees will consider the elements of non-fiction writing and how it fits into their curricula and will explore a variety of materials. They will receive a packet with a bibliography resources and connections to the Common Core State Standards and Visual Arts Standards and Benchmarks.

  2. Environmental Citizen Science using the GLOBE program (20 CTLE Credits)
    August 6-7-8
    Cost: $750
    This three-day workshop will introduce middle and high school science teachers to the GLOBE curriculum, developed by NASA in order to train teachers to get their students involved in real environmental systems citizen science research. All participants will become GLOBE certified teachers by the end of the workshop, and will receive a training certificate as well as classroom supplies.

  3. Hands on geography with 3-D models  (12 CTLE credits)
    August 6-7
    Cost: $500
    This two-day workshop will give 4th – 6th grade social studies teachers hands-on experiences and strategies for an integrated approach to geography, maps, and social studies content. During the workshop, teachers will explore various geographic concepts on the terrain model.  These concepts will be linked to particular map skills and particular social studies content appropriate for New York City social studies curriculum

  4. Leadership Workshop: “School Leadership: A Systems-Based Approach” (6 CTLE Credits)
    August 6
    Cost $250
    This one-day workshop is designed for teachers and school leaders interested in developing their attunement to group dynamics. The workshop will provide educators who are pursuing teacher and leadership certification a hands on understanding of systems interactions and their impact on school effectiveness.

  5. "Aligning Goal-Setting, Classroom Practices, and Assessment in the Language Classroom" (6 CTLE Credits)
    August 7
    Cost $250
    This 1-day workshop will introduce language teachers in English as a New Language (ENL), Bilingual Education, and Foreign Language Education classrooms to the relationships among three significant classroom elements: Goal-setting, classroom practices, and assessment. Grades K-8.
