Emmanuel Decaudin is pursuing a major in Political Theory and Intellectual History as part of the CUNY Baccalaureate for Unique and Interdisciplinary Studies program. He is an avid progressive political activist and is studying the history and theory of politics in order to have a comprehensive understanding of the problems that face our nation and the world today. He has a particular interest in the history of populism and social movements in the United States and has conducted historiographic research on the American Populist movement. Currently he is working on a project comparing the American Populist movement with the modern Progressive movement, to bridge the divide between democratic and undemocratic understandings of populism. He plans to continue this research in graduate school.
