For the past 4 years, Senior Research Scientist Dr. Paul Thomson, has been a key member of the R&D Product Development team in Therapeutics at Colgate-Palmolive, working on the relaunch of Colgate Total SF.
The new Colgate Total SF, that Dr. Thomson has had major contributions to, uses a tin fluoride salt, as the active ingredient, which is effectively stabilized by zinc phosphate.  The stability and bio-availability of the active ingredient offers key multi-benefits that help to reduce plaque, gingivitis, caries, and sensitivity.  In addition to these benefits, the toothpaste also addresses healthy breath, enamel, tartar control, and whitening, while being conveniently packaged in an aesthetically pleasing and great tasting toothpaste.

Dr. Thomson says, "This was primarily due to my fundamental understanding of metal chemistry/organometallics during my thesis work with Dr. Mahesh K. Lakshman at CCNY.  I am happy to have worked and contributed to this great milestone in Colgate-Palmolive’s history, and look forward to working on the many more innovations to come."
Dr. Thomson participated in both MARC and RISE programs as an undergraduate.
