Carla Cappetti is a professor of English at The City College of New York, CUNY, where she teaches American literature and literary theory. She is the author of Writing Chicago: Modernism, Ethnography, and the Novel (1993). She has published articles on Richard Wright, Zora Neale Hurston, the Federal Writer Project of the WPA, and Natalia Ginzburg in Amerikastudien/American Studies, MELUS: Multi-Ethnic Literature of the United States , Acoma. Rivista Internazionale di Studi Nordamericani, Modern Fiction Studies, Against the Current, European Writers: The Twentieth Century, Rivista di Storia Contemporanea, Lavoro Critico. She is currently writing a book on wild animals in American literature, entitled The Beast in the Garden of American Literature.
