Applied Psychology Job Opportunity - Middle School Facilitator

3pm-6pm every weekday (Spring, overtime available)

8am-6pm (Summer, half day shifts available)


Position Summary: Work with middle school age students within an urban community setting during afterschool hours.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands:

  • Ability to travel to multiple work sites via public transportation
  • Repetitive movement of hands and fingers (typing and/or writing)
  • Ability to stand or walk long distances
  • Visual acuity to view documents on a computer screen for long periods of time
  • Typical office environment
  • Work in extreme heat or cold conditions
  • Flexibility to work evenings/nights/and-or weekend

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provide supervision and care of (up to) 20 participants, • Teach by modeling and demonstrating characteristics that participants can learn from. • Provide individual and group tutoring in areas such as reading, writing, mathematics, study skills and S.T.E.A.M based curriculum. • Develop classroom and behavioral management skills • Lead and plan recreational activities • Communicate regularly with the Education Coordinator in regards to lesson planning and implementation • Develop relationships with children and their families. • Facilitators are also expected help in the design, plan and lead the implementation of special projects in and out of program.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Pursuing a Bachelors or Associates Degree
  • Field of study in Education, Applied Psychology, or Social Work prefered
  • At least one-year experience working with children, tutoring, or teaching is preferred.
  • Applicants with a background in Art, Drama, Music, Martial Arts, and Gymnastics are welcomed and may qualify for a higher per hour rate.

This position is Located in Bronx, New York.

Job Type: Part-time

Salary: $13.00-$14.00 / hour
