Program Manager, Women's Entrepreneurship Program

Position Summary:

The Program Manager, Women's Entrepreneurship Program will help oversee planning, marketing, execution and continuous improvement of multiple programs designed to support greater diversity in gender representation within the technology sector through a focus on entrepreneurship. In this role, you’ll work directly with the Managing Director of the Standard Chartered Women's Entrepreneurship Program, as well as with students, campus stakeholders, mentors, and industry partners. An array of programs support entrepreneurship among women across campus through initiatives including: a startup bootcamp, mentorship network, dedicated resource center and an elective course. Additionally, there is programming for high school girls. This position may work a hybrid schedule of remote and in-person hours in line with campus policies.

About the Zahn Innovation Center:

The Zahn Innovation Center is a startup incubator that nurtures entrepreneurial initiatives at The City College of New York, providing students with the tools they need to transform their ideas into sustainable ventures. The Center offers support for both technology-enabled startups and social impact ventures. The Center provides co-working spaces, as well as mentorship, workshops, academic classes, and expert pro-bono services.  Through a partnership with Standard Chartered Bank in place since 2015, intentional efforts have resulted in gender parity among students participating in Zahn Innovation Center programs.

Essential Functions:

  • Lead project management efforts including planning, execution, and continuous improvement processes for multiple initiatives and activities including semester-long programs, ongoing speaker series, hackathons, ideation sessions, and campus and community engagement activities.
  • Serve as a key focal point for coordinating activities with students, campus stakeholders, mentors, and industry partners. 
  • Coach, mentor, and support students on their individual journeys to explore entrepreneurship, develop new skills, and unleash their potential.
  • Collect and analyze data to evaluate the reach and impact of programs, and propose improvements and new approaches to programs based on those analyses. 

Position Requirements & Qualities:

  • Experience managing at least one complex project stretching over multiple weeks with multiple activities and multiple stakeholders.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion with a particular focus on supporting individuals and communities from underrepresented gender groups.
  • Creative problem-solver able to get things done quickly, efficiently, and accurately.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills & interpersonal skills.
  • Highly motivated, energetic and enthusiastic self-starter, with the flexibility to manage multiple projects with varying levels of complexity.
  • Comfortable working as a collaborative partner on a small team in an academic environment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively on google documents, sheets, and slides.
  • Experience in at least one key focus area:
    • Entrepreneurship or related activities (this could include entrepreneurial activities within non-profit or social enterprises)
    • Technology development or prototyping
    • Product or service design and development
    • Venture finance

In this role, you’ll work directly with the Executive Director, as well as with students, campus stakeholders, mentors, and industry partners. You will help deliver an array of programs designed to empower students at The City College of New York to embrace the entrepreneurial and innovation mindset by providing tools and resources to transform disruptive ideas into sustainable ventures. Activities include a startup bootcamp, apprenticeships, campus engagement events, and collaborations with academic activities. This position may work a hybrid schedule of remote and in-person hours in line with campus policies.

Campus and Community Engagement Coordinator

Position Summary: 

This position supports various initiatives at the Zahn Innovation Center, spreading the entrepreneurial mindset throughout The City College of New York and its surrounding community. In this role, you’ll help the Zahn Innovation Center develop and deliver programming designed to attract a broad audience of students, as well as assist with various ongoing administrative and operational duties. This position will be primarily in-person, with some opportunities for flexible scheduling and remote work in line with campus policies and programmatic needs.

  • Assist in the planning of programming and events including startup incubator programs, relaunch of an apprenticeship program, seminars, workshops, and other campus activities.
  • Develop and implement strategies to expand the reach of Zahn Innovation Center programs to a broad audience of students and build a community of student innovators on campus.
  • Take responsibility for space management (organization, logistics, supplies, etc.) 
  • Facilitate and manage tasks and requests related to CCNY departments for the advancement of the Center's events and operations.
  • Collaborate with the team on Marketing and Communications to promote upcoming programs and events.
  • Manage events including planning and preparation (recruiting, training and scheduling volunteers, prepping materials, swag, signage, etc.) as well as serving as a focal point for staff, students, campus stakeholders, and attendees during events.
