Vice President for Communications and Marketing

Ira Krawitz joined The City College of New York as its first Director of Marketing in February 2012.  After the retirement of Mary Lou Edmondson, Ira was appointed Acting Vice President for the Office of Communications and Marketing.  He is a senior marketing executive with extensive experience in all aspects of communications, public relations, promotion, strategic planning, website management, branding and crisis communication.  He served previously as Senior Vice President – Global Marketing for the international media firm PR Newswire.  Immediately before coming to CCNY, he was a marketing consultant for a variety of start-ups and established companies located in the U.S., Europe and Scandinavia.

Under his leadership, the Office of Communications and Marketing has renewed its mission as a major conduit of information and positive positioning of the College to students, faculty, staff, alumni, the media, the community and the public at large.
