Compton Goethals Hall
(CG, Art Building)
The
CG-Building, as indicated above, houses the Art Department, which relocated
to new quarters in 1991 after a multimillion dollar project that resulted
in totally renovated facilities and state-of-the-art equipment for its
studios, laboratories and classrooms. The CCNY Art Gallery, with 2000
square feet of display space for two and three-dimensional art, showcases
the work of undergraduates, graduate students and professional artists,
along with specially curated exhibitions.

Originally
Compton and Goethals were two individual buildings. When they were connected
the building-complex became known as Compton-Goethals. It was built in
1907, when the College moved to St. Nicholas Heights from its original
location at 23rd Street and Lexington Avenue. |
