FITNESS CENTER
Recently
we discovered that there is lead paint on the ceiling of the Fitness
Center. While we know of no deleterious effects on anyone, we feel that
we should be aggressive about health issues; therefore, we have closed
the Center and are working on the solution to this problem.
In the meantime, we are now ready to open an alternative site, in Wingate
Room 104. Mr. Coleman has overseen the preparation of this room, and
we have placed as much equipment as is feasible there...approximately
30 students at a time will be accommodated. This week Wingate Rm 104
will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. The working hours of the staff are
being reorganized so that we can open earlier next week, and we will
notify you to confirm a 9 a.m. opening at that time.
President
Williams understands the importance of this Center to the students,
and we are working diligently to come up with a solution as quickly
as possible so that we can reopen the Fitness Center. Thank you for
your patience!

The information
desk has a basket where we recycle previously read magazines
and books. If you have any you would like to share
with the students, please donate them to us. We just ask that
you remove your names and addresses to assure your privacy. You can
include any outdated video movies or cds you would like to part with.
(We are located in NAC 1/205).
Please pass this information on to your coworkers. The students really
enjoy picking up magazines and books they might not be able to afford.

***IMPORTANT***
Eliminating the possibility of SARS at
City College
President Gregory Williams has designated Pereta Rodriguez as the CCNY’s SARS
designee. The Wellness and Counseling Center (WCC) has established a
health program to meet this assignment.
Currently, the U.S. Center for Disease Control (CDC) has an advisory
for Beijing and Hong Kong. Faculty and students traveling to
or from these areas MUST report to the WCC, located in the
Marshak (Science) building, room J-15 before they report to classes
or work to provide information on their health status. The WCC will
give each a brief questionnaire to fill out and provide medical treatment
if needed. Our concern is to provide a healthy environment for our campus
community. Thank you for your cooperation! Location: J-15
