Commencement
President's Letter to Graduates
Congratulations! I am delighted to learn of your anticipated graduation and invite you to participate in the College's Commencement on May 31, 2013. This is an important time for you and for the family and friends who have supported you throughout your career at The City College of New York. All of us here at City are proud of your accomplishment.
Attached, you will find more information regarding Commencement. In addition, you can find this information on the CCNY website under Student Life. Please read it carefully for details about how to order your cap and gown, pick up tickets, etc. If you have additional questions, please contact the Commencement Office in Shepard Hall, Room 154, telephone: 212-650-7378.
I strongly encourage you to get involved in The City College Young Alumni, an online community where young alumni can stay in touch with former classmates, but most importantly, stay in touch with their alma mater. Graduates can interact in current topics of interest, share information and stay current with events at The City College of New York. For more information about the Young Alumni, you can email Sarai Perez to youngalumni@ccny.cuny.edu or visit The City College of New York Young Alumni page on Facebook.
In addition, you will want to join the Alumni Association. You will receive a free membership for the first year after graduation and the cost is very modest thereafter. The Association includes fourteen special interest groups to alumni, such as those for engineering, architecture, art, communication, economics and others. Make sure to ask about the special group linked to your interest or major. The Association also conducts a wide variety of special events throughout the year so be sure to make contact with the Association, located in Shepard Hall, Room 162. Make sure to provide to the Association your correct mailing address since you will receive various invitations and the seasonal Alumnus magazine. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to be a part of the Alumni Association Board of Directors and Association Committees.
Just as many alumni of previous generations dedicated themselves to ensuring a fine education for those who followed them, I hope that you will do the same for the generations of students following you. I urge you to be a part of The City College community after graduation and to remain connected to your alma mater. The administration and faculty of The City College of New York look forward to seeing you on May 31st.
Sincerely,
Lisa S. Coico
President
