English Language Institute
The English Language Institute (ELI) at The City College of New York (CCNY) prepares international students for the academic challenges of an American college or university. We offer a flexible schedule of multilevel English skills classes (basic, intermediate, advanced, College or Master level) that meet F-1 Visa criteria. In addition, we design ESL programs to serve special corporate or educational agencies. Courses taught by language Masters.
The ELI and the Office of International Scholar and Student Services, work with every international student applicant throughout the I-20 application process. The I-20 form is required for the F-1 visa interview at a USA Embassy.
At the ELI, students experience English instruction and cultural diversity through a series of lesson-based New York City activities. These activities (e.g. visits to museums, lectures, landmarks, galleries, theaters and parks) complement our course curriculum. Nowhere else in the city do international students have so many opportunities to build English skills and gain cross-cultural experience. ELI Students also participate in CCNY campus tours to become familiar with the college admission process and the different academic schools, programs and divisions found on campus, and at other City University of New York schools.
