Ph.D. Program in Engineering


The Ph.D. program in engineering at the Grove School of Engineering offers doctoral education in traditional engineering fields and newly emerging multidisciplinary areas.  It is the only publicly supported engineering doctoral program in the metropolitan New York area.  Learn more >>

The program prepares qualified students for academic research and management careers in the fields of biomedical, chemical, civil, electrical and mechanical engineering.  (Doctoral students in computer science work with Grove faculty under the auspices of the CUNY Graduate Center.)

The school's faculty are internationally recognized for path-breaking research and excellence in teaching. Its academic departments and research institutes are equipped with state-of-the art laboratories and research facilities. Its graduates are successful in academia and in the business and government sectors, demonstrating the technical and hands-on skills required of doctorate holders in a technological age.


The program provides a 5-year CCNY Fellowship which includes a $24K stipend per year, health benefits, and full tuition for in-state and out-of-state residents.

    The Ph.D. Program in Computer Science is conducted as a consortium of seven senior colleges within the CUNY system, as well as the Graduate Center.
