About Congestion Pricing

In April of 2007 a traffic mitigation plan, including a congestion pricing scheme in Manhattan, was proposed by Mayor Bloomberg as part of the larger PlaNYC initiative. To address the wide range of public responses to the plan, a 17-member Traffic Congestion Mitigation Commission was formed by State Law in July 2007. The Commission concluded its work and presented its final recommendation in late January 2008. Before the proposal can reach Albany, the City Council must support the proposal or some other alternative plan via a home rule message by the end of February 2008.
