She is a past chair of CCNY’s Media and Communication Arts Department and served as Co-Chair for City College’s 2008 Middle States Re-accreditation Review.

A PRSA Fellow, Professor Appelbaum serves on PRSA-NY’s Board of Directors. In addition, she is faculty advisor to CCNY’s student chapter of PRSA, which she helped establish in 1996.

Ms. Tillman Irving and Mr. Diaz will speak on the topic “From CCNY to TV & Radio News to CCNY.” Both are recipients of CCNY’s Townsend Harris Medal for outstanding post-graduate achievements.

Ms. Tillman Irving is a leading TV and radio journalist who has excelled as a reporter, talk-show host and news writer for WCBS-AM radio. Mr. Diaz returned to his alma mater in 2005 as a Distinguished Lecturer in the Political Science and Media and Communication Arts Departments after a career as an award-winning reporter and anchor for WNBC-TV and WCBS-TV.
