    NEW YORK, January 11, 2006 – The City College of New York (CCNY) has added two new undergraduate degree programs that bridge the science and engineering disciplines for the first time.  The new Bachelor of Science in Environmental & Earth System Science and Bachelor of Engineering in Environmental & Earth System Engineering are also the first of their kind to be offered by a CUNY or SUNY college.

    NEW YORK, January 10, 2006 -- Dr. Hernan A. Makse, Associate Professor of Physics in the Benjamin Levich Institute for Physicochemical Hydrodynamics at The City College of New York (CCNY), has been named a co-recipient of the 2005 Mayor’s Award for Excellence in Science and Technology, in the Young Investigator category.  Mayor Michael Bloomberg announced the winners yesterday.

  • CCNY, MEMORIAL SLOAN-KETTERING SCIENTISTS USE NEAR-INFRARED LASER LIGHT TO DETECT CANCEROUS BREAST TISSUE

    NEW YORK, January 3, 2006 – A team of scientists from The City College of New York (CCNY) and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center has successfully used near-infrared laser light to differentiate between cancerous and non-cancerous human breast tissue.  The development could eventually lead to noninvasive techniques for detecting and diagnosing breast cancer.
