New Student Orientation

Welcome to City College!
City College New Student Orientation is required for all incoming students. At New Student Orientation, you will get the tools you need to start the first day of class such as your ID, which lets you access campus buildings and the library, and your CityONECard, which lets you purchase meals at discounted rates. You will also learn about academic and student involvement opportunities, become familiar with our campus traditions and meet the City College Community.
At Orientation, each New Student will be introduced to a GPS Navigator, a peer mentor specially trained to guide students through the first year, helping students hone achieving behaviors and acclimate to college life.
The main goals of New Student Orientation are:
- Create attachment to the campus so that students and their families have a sense of belonging
- Promote school spirit and pride
- Give students the tools they need to use resources and services on campus
- Help students create a strategic plan for academic success
City College New Student Orientation has sessions for first year and transfer students. The information given at sessions is based on the student's chosen area of study. Additionally, there are information sessions for international students, SEEK, the Sophie Davis Biomedical Program, Honors College and other special programs.
