Profile
Bettina Lerner (B.A., Ph.D, Yale University) is Deputy Chair of the Foreign Languages and Literatures Department and Director of the Program in Comparative Literature. Her work focuses on popular culture in 19th-century France. Her research interests include theory of translation and trans-Atlantic relations during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Her first book, The Invention of the Popular: Literature and Culture in Nineteenth-Century France is forthcoming with Ashgate.
