    As an Adjunct Professor at the CWE since 1998, Liddicoat has been teaching Core Natural Science: Nature and Human Beings. he has also taught Understanding New York City Weather (2001), Oceans: the Seventy Percent Solution (2002), Environmental Activism (2003), and New York Harbor (2006). His received his undergraduate degree is in English Literature and Language from Wayne State University (A.B.) in Detroit, and graduate degrees are in Earth Science from Dartmouth College (A.M.) and the University of California, Santa Cruz (Ph.D.). In the early 1960s, he was the Chief Engineer on a destroyer in the U.S. Navy. Besides teaching at the CWE, he is a full-time faculty member in the Department of Environmental Science at Columbia University’s Barnard College, and teach Astronomy and Chemistry at New York University part time. He is a Visiting Research Scientist at the American Museum of Natural History and University of California, Santa Cruz, where he does research on Earth’s past magnetic field as recorded in rocks in Central America, Eastern Asia, the Mediterranean region, and on both coasts of the United States. His peer-reviewed publications total nearly 50 in books and professional scientific journals, including Nature, and he is the co-editor of a Geological Society of America Special Paper on the geology and ecology of Mono Lake, California.
