Welcome to the CCNY Physician Assistant Program. Take a tour of our program, learn about our mission, meet our faculty and staff, and find out what makes us unique in the field of physician assistant education.
Physician assistants are health professionals licensed to practice medicine with physician supervision. Physician assistants work in a variety of medical settings, ranging from family medicine and primary care to sub-specialty surgery. P.A.s practice in-patient, out-patient and emergency medicine. The CCNY - Sophie Davis Physician Assistant Program at Harlem Hospital Center is a mission-driven program, attracting students with a commitment to providing excellent care to those in greatest need. One of the oldest P.A. Programs in the country, over 700 physician assistants have graduated from the Sophie Davis Program.
The Physician Assistant Program is committed to increasing the number of physician assistants of African-American, Latino, and other ethnic backgrounds, whose communities have historically been under-served. It also encourages representation for individuals and families living in the communities in which they practice. As such, its mission and goals are consistent with those of the Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education.
The Physician Assistant Program is committed to academic excellence. The class of (January) 2013 earned a NCCPA PANCE pass rate of 100%, the second time in four years!

Accreditation remains in effect until the program closes or withdraws from the accreditation process or until accreditation is withdrawn for failure to comply with the Standards. The approximate date for the next validation review of the program by the ARC-PA will be September 2021. The review date is contingent upon continued compliance with the Accreditation Standards and ARC-PA policy.
