Expanding Knowledge and Opportunities
Eligible Baseline Training graduates can build job-specific skills at no cost through our continuing education and certification courses. As space is available, participants can gain industry-recognized skills in construction, commercial and industrial cleaning, and computer-aided design (CAD), opening new doors to career growth and advancement.
Eligibility and Availability: Our staff will notify Baseline Training graduates of upcoming opportunities and offer guidance as they select which courses they should apply to.
Construction Safety
Our Construction Safety courses are designed to equip Rangel Initiative trainees with the essential safety certifications needed to start a career in construction. Through hands-on training and expert instruction, trainees earn credentials and skills that prepare them for a safe and successful entry into the workforce. Courses include:
- 30-hour OSHA for Construction
- 10-hour Site Safety Training (SST)
- 4-hour Flagging
- 4-Hour Supported Scaffold User and Refresher
OSHA 30 and SST are mandatory for work at most construction sites in NYC. CCNY is an approved course provider by the NYC Department of Buildings.
Green Buildings
E-CMT Weatherization Training: In partnership with the CUNY Building Performance Lab and supported by the NYS Weatherization Assistance Program, this 4-week intensive provides training in building energy fundamentals, hands-on lab experience, and preparation for industry-recognized certifications. Note: this course is free to all eligible participants and is not part of our continuing education program for professionals.
GPRO Certificate Program: This industry-recognized curriculum, developed by the Urban Green Council, equips participants with high-performance building practices that can be integrated into their daily work. Includes Fundamentals of Building Green, Operations & Maintenance Essentials, and Construction Management.
Environmental
HAZWOPER: Practical, expert-led instruction and certification for all workers who may be exposed to hazardous materials. Includes the 40-hour initial certification course and the 8-hour annual refresher course.
Certified Custodial Technician: Developed by ISSA’s Cleaning Management Institute, this course is designed for front-line custodians and covers chemical properties, cleaning best practices, safety, regulatory compliance, and customer service. Participants earn Basic Certified Cleaning Technician certification upon completion.
Specialty Skills
Drone License Preparation: Hands-on exercises and in-class instruction in preparation for the FAA Remote Pilot Certificate exam, which opens the door to career opportunities in commercial drone flight.
Autodesk Authorized Training: Includes the introductory AutoCAD Essentials course and other courses focused on more advanced software, ideal for infrastructure professionals.
Commercial Driver's License (in development): In collaboration with TANY and NYC HRA/PINCC, we are developing a comprehensive training program that utilizes the Rangel Initiative's new commercial truck driving simulator to equip participants with the skills needed to secure stable careers in the trucking industry.
