The AccessAbility Center/Student Disability Services coordinates a variety of appropraties reasonable accommodations, programs, and services for students with disabilities. Reasonable accommodations are adjustments to policy, practice and programs that "level the playing field," and allow students to demonstrate their knowledge without the interference of the functional impact of their disability. Accommodations are individualized and determined on a case-by-case basis, and may include: exam accommodations, the ability to take exams in a reduced distraction environment; peer note-taking services; permission to record lectures; printed materials in an alternate format such as large print, electronic, or Braille; assistive technology, sign language interpreting; and speech-to-text services.
Students who register with AAC have access to the Assistive Technology Lab, located in NAC 1/217B, which offers technology for screen reading and magnification, writing support, note-taking, and voice recognition. Training is available.
A CUNY LEADS Advisor is available to support students with academic advisement and career planning.
A variety of workshops and events are sponsored by AAC throughout the year. Check our events page to find out what is coming up!
