MSCHE Timeline

City College’s timeline is designed to ensure that key MSCHE deadlines for the self-study process are met. It focuses on the work to be completed by the steering committee and working groups. It is designed to be inclusive of all participants, including stakeholders, students, faculty, and staff.

CCNY self-study timeline

Spring 2024

  • Meet with department Chairs regarding plans for MSCHE self-study

Fall 2024

  • Present to College-wide Review Committee and request nominations for faculty lead and working group co-chairs
  • Form steering committee
  • Members of steering committee attend MSCHE Self-Study Institute 
  • Begin the Self-Study Design; determine institutional priorities and intended outcomes for the Self-Study with senior leadership 
  • Steering committee begins regular meetings 
  • Participate in post-Self-Study Institute conference call with MSCHE Vice President Liaison

Spring 2025

  • Self-Study co-chairs share institutional priorities and intended outcomes with the College-wide Review Committee 
  • Steering committee meets weekly to draft and revise the Self-Study Design 
  • Self-Study co-chairs update the President's Cabinet, Faculty Senate, and Faculty Councils on Self-Study Preparation Visit (SSPV) 
  • College President and Provost charge the steering committee and working group co-chairs  
  • President and the Provost approve the draft Self-Study Design  
  • Draft Self-Study Design submitted to MSCHE Vice President Liaison by February 1  
  • Host Self-Study Planning Visit with MSCHE VP Liaison on April 1 
  • After receiving feedback from MSCHE VP Liaison, submit revised Self-Study Design by May 30 
  • Self-Study Design approved by MSCHE VP Liaison 
  • Steering committee and working group co-chairs meet monthly to develop Fall work plans 

Fall 2025

  • College President and Provost charge the working groups at the kick-off meeting on September 15
  • Steering committee and working group co-chairs host Town Hall meetings for campus community 
  • Working groups carry out their evidence collection and analysis 
  • Steering committee members and working group co-chairs meet regularly to review progress 
  • Self-study co-chairs update the College-wide Review committee and the President's Cabinet 
  • Working groups complete Evidence Inventory by December 1

Spring 2026

  • Working groups submit reports by February 17  
  • Steering committee completes first draft of key findings and recommendations for innovation and improvement from the working group reports
  • Self-Study co-chairs share draft of key findings and recommendations with senior leadership, the President’s Cabinet, and the Faculty Senate, and request input on the feasibility of the recommendations 
  • The Provost and the steering committee charge Advertising and Public Relations senior capstone student teams with developing marketing strategies to engage more students in the Self-Study process
  • Fall 2026 Faculty Engagement Fellows identified
  • Steering committee begins to prepare for MSCHE Peer Evaluation Team Chair preliminary visit

Summer 2026

  • Steering Committee produces first draft of Self-Study report and completes the Evidence Inventory
  • First draft of report shared with College leadership

Fall 2026

  • Steering committee revises first draft of the Self-Study report based on feedback from College leadership
  • Steering committee and Faculty Engagement Fellows share revised draft of self-study report with the campus community
  • Self-study co-chairs update the College-wide Review Committee and the President's Cabinet on MSCHE Evaluation Team Chair preliminary visit 
  • Submit revised self-study report to the MSCHE Peer Evaluation Team Chair at least two weeks prior to the Team Chair visit
  • Prepare the campus community for MSCHE Evaluation Team Chair preliminary visit 
  • Engage students based on suggestions from the AdPR student teams
  • Host MSCHE Evaluation Team Chair preliminary visit 
  • Based on feedback from MSCHE Evaluation Team Chair, the steering committee revises the Self-Study report as necessary 
  • Steering committee begins to prepare the College community for the Spring Self-Study Peer Evaluation Team visit 
  • College community is notified of the opportunity to submit comments (“Third-Party Comments”) via the MSCHE web site by December 1, 2026  
  • Senior leadership approve Self-Study Report
  • ALO uploads Report and Evidence Inventory to the secure MSCHE portal at least ten weeks prior to the Self-Study Peer Evaluation visit

Spring 2027

  • Steering committee finalizes preparations for Self-Study evaluation visit 
  • MSCHE Peer Evaluation Team visits the College 
  • Peer Evaluation Team Chair sends the College a written draft of the Self-Study Evaluation Team Report within 7 calendar days of the On-Site Evaluation visit for the correction of any factual errors
  • Within 7 calendar days of receipt of the draft report, College returns corrected draft to the Team Chair
  • Within 5 calendar days of receipt of the corrected draft, the Chair uploads final Self-Study Report to the MSCHE portal
  • Within 7 calendar days of the final Self-Study Report being uploaded, the College prepares the formal institutional response to the team and uploads to secure MSCHE portal
  • Within 5 calendar days of the institutional response being uploaded, the Chair uploads a confidential brief to the secure MSCHE portal
  • The Middle States Commission on Higher Education takes an accreditation action at the meeting of the Committee on Evaluation Reports  
  • The Commission informs the College of the accreditation action no later than 30 days after it takes an action
