The Urban Glass House Design Research on Glass Christian Volkmann’s Fall 2017 Advanced Studio, “Urban Glass House,” investigated conditions of transparency and set out to insert small glass pavilions in three very specific environments in New York City: Urban plazas with particular contexts and histories. These were interpreted by students and complemented with spaces of glass to unite material strategies with spatial experience. Jeff Levine B Arch ’75, chair of Levine Builders, is featured in a Real Deal interview as part of a new Q&A series with New York City construction leaders. Levine shares fond memories of his years at City College in the Curry Garage and discusses how his firm came to focus on affordable housing. His company has completed more than three dozen projects and has several more in development.
