CSOM Student Tic Tok Video Gains National Recognition

Clarence Kong

Clarence Kong, 4th-year student at CUNY School of Medicine, was recently featured by the American Heart Association for his Tic Tok video describing hands-only CPR. The American Heart Association trains more than 22 million people in CPR each year and used the popular social media platform to encourage viewers to become certified.

Outside of school, Clarence is an American Heart Association BLS CPR instructor. "I teach CPR frequently," Clarence said. " I wanted to come up with a memorable way to remind people of the easy steps in hands-only CPR." Clarence's video has more than 200 views on Tic Tok and shared many times on other social media platforms. Click here to view the video.

A 2018 Tylenol Future Care scholar and 2014 Milken scholar, Clarence is a nationally recognized EMT serving as a firefighter/EMT at the Great Neck Vigilant Fire Department. In addition, he is a vice commander in the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary. As a physician, Clarence hopes to work with regional police, fire, and EMS agencies.

Congratulations, Clarence!
