As licensed health professionals who practice medicine under physician supervision, physician assistants play a vital role in a range of medical settings, including family medicine and primary care to sub-specialty surgery, in-patient, out-patient and emergency medicine. The CUNY School of Medicine Physician Assistant Program is a mission-driven program, attracting students with a commitment to providing excellent care to those in greatest need. With over 900 physician assistants graduated from our program, we take pride in being one of the oldest P.A. programs in the country.

Our program is committed to increasing the representation of African-American, Latino, and other ethnic backgrounds in the field of medicine, with a particular focus on serving historically underserved communities. Our goals are aligned with those of the Sophie Davis Biomedical Education Program/CUNY School of Medicine.

We prioritize academic excellence and have a proven track record of success, with our January 2023 class achieving a 94% NCCPA PANCE pass rate. We are also proud to be a leader in promoting increased minority representation in the healthcare industry.

We are proud to announce that The CUNY School of Medicine Physician Assistant Program has been granted Accreditation-Continued status by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA). This status is granted when a currently accredited program is in compliance with the ARC-PA Standards. Our accreditation history can be viewed on the ARC-PA website here: http://www.arc-pa.org/accreditation-history-cuny-school-of-medicine/.

The next validation review of our program by the ARC-PA will take place on June 27-28, 2024, contingent upon our continued compliance with the Accreditation Standards and ARC-PA policy.

We want you to consider a rewarding career as a physician assistant and join the CUNY School of Medicine Physician Assistant family.
