Jarrin Choudhury is a senior at the City College of New York completing a B.A./M.A. in History and is also majoring in Art, with a focus on Digital Design. Growing up, Jarrin was an artist who was, and is, deeply moved by South Asian artistic influences like renowned poet Rabindranath Tagore. Her research interests revolve around her fascination with the culture of South Asia; namely, the colonial era of the region of Bengal, as well as contemporary Bengal from the 20th Century onwards. Currently, Choudhury studies the war crimes of the 1971 Liberation War on Birangona women and their agency during it. Upon graduating, she aspires to complete a Ph.D. in South Asian Studies and combine it with her artistry skills to creatively broaden the world’s awareness of Bangladesh’s history and all the richness it truly encompasses. She is also a Kaye Scholar.
