The City College of New York offers a Bachelor of Music (BM) and Master of Music (MM) in Jazz Studies (instrumental and vocal) where students are:

BM in Jazz Studies

The BM in Jazz Studies (Instrumental and Vocal) is a 64-credit major (120-credit degree) that prepares students for a professional career in music while also providing a diverse range of study to broaden intellectual perspectives.

Our program consists of an intensive jazz curriculum, with courses taught by world-class faculty members who maintain active performing and recording careers. Our courses include jazz harmony, improvisation, repertoire, performance, arranging, composition and more, with instrumentalists and vocalists moving on parallel tracks as well as together.

MM in Jazz Studies

The MM in Jazz Studies (instrumental and vocal) is a high-level, 32-credit, two-year program for students wishing to further develop their skill as a jazz performer and/or teach at the collegiate level. A bachelors degree in jazz studies or the equivalent is required.
