Bio

Working at CCNY for over 10+ years, Akasha is dedicated to public service, focusing her efforts on community building, and campus-based urban agriculture. At The City College of New York, she leads hands-on ecological and sustainable initiatives, working to make environmental stewardship more accessible and inclusive. By establishing green spaces and agricultural projects on campus, she works to ensure marginalized communities have a direct voice and active leadership roles in environmental advocacy.

Her approach is grounded in a strong academic and professional foundation at CCNY.

She earned dual Bachelor’s degrees in Political Science and International Studies, with a minor in Women’s Studies, from the Colin Powell School for Civic and Global Leadership. While continuing her career in public higher education, she went on to earn her Master’s degree from CCNY’s Branding + Integrated Communications (BIC) program, specializing in Strategy and Account Planning with a minor in Public Relations. This background allows her to craft clear, strategic communications that turn community initiatives into impactful, sustained campus programs.
