Brian A. Avila Klein

Bio

Brian Avila Klein serves as an Administrative Manager in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at The City College of New York, where he oversees both graduate program administration and research operations within the Neural Engineering unit. In this role, Brian provides broad support to faculty and students by overseeing graduate admissions and onboarding, coordinating key doctoral program requirements, and sustaining the administrative infrastructure that underpins the department’s graduate programs.

Brian also maintains administrative oversight of the Neural Engineering Labs (of Professors Marom Bikson & Lucas Parra) at the Center for Discovery and Innovation, where he manages multimillion‑dollar research operations. His portfolio includes grant and budget administration, procurement, facility and IT coordination, regulatory compliance for IRB and IACUC protocols, inventory and asset management, and supervision of administrative tasks of research personnel.

Alongside his work in Biomedical Engineering, Brian is a Project Researcher with the CUNY-Initiative on Immigration and Education and a doctoral candidate in Urban Education at the CUNY Graduate Center. As a CCNY alumnus, he values contributing to the community that shaped his academic journey and works to support smooth, dependable operations for students, faculty, and researchers.
