Camille Kamga
Profile
Dr. Camille Kamga is a Professor of Civil Engineering at the City College of New York. He has been the Acting Director and Director of the Region 2 – University Transportation Research Center (UTRC) since 2009 and the Associate Director of the CUNY Institute for Urban Systems (CIUS) since 2002. He is leading UTRC in innovative research, education, and technology transfer programs; addressing issues of urban mobility and sustainability; as well as concepts and technologies related to Big Data applications to transportation and traffic engineering. Dr. Kamga has chaired many sessions at national, as well as international conferences. Since 2010, he has continued to serve in a leadership capacity as member of the Board of Directors of the Intelligent Transportation Society of New York (ITS-NY) - a professional group providing education and outreach to foster the understanding of ITS applications and technologies. He chairs the education committee of the society. He is member of the TRB Standing Committee on Urban Transportation Data and Information Systems (AED20), member of the TRB Travel Time, Speed, and Reliability Subcommittee (AED20(3)), and serves as the coordinator of the Research Council for AED20. He also serves in many other professional organizations and committees. He serves on the Executive Committee of the Council of University Transportation Centers from 2021 to 2024
Dr. Kamga’s research interests include: intelligent transportation system; modeling and traffic simulation; analysis of very large transportation networks; use of real-time information for travel; transportation modeling using mobile sensors; transportation planning and policy, transportation operations; sustainability and environment; and transportation safety. Since 2012, Dr. Kamga has spearheaded an annual symposium of Automated and Connected Vehicles in Federal Region 2.
Dr. Kamga’s research has been funded by numerous grants from the U.S. Department of Transportation; the New York State Department of Transportation; the New York Metropolitan Transportation Council; the New York State Energy and Research Development Authority; the New Jersey Department of Transportation; New York City Department of Transportation; New York City Transit; the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey; the National Science Foundation, and the Volvo Research and Education Foundation.

Analytic Methods for Transportation (CE I2400)

In this course, we review a survey of quantitative methods useful in transportation and traffic engineering. Probability and statistics; linear regression; multiple regression; linear programming; Transportation Model; Network Analysis; and Shortest Path Problems.
Urban Transportation Planning (CE I2600)

This class is an introduction to planning transportation in metropolitan areas. It provides an overview of contemporary urban transportation planning. Specific areas of focus in this course will include the policy context for transportation planning in the U.S., methods of data collection and performance measurement, travel demand modeling, land-use transportation interactions, social and environmental impacts of transportation, financing of transportation systems, and emerging information technologies for transportation planning.
Transportation Network Analysis (CE G4900)
Spring 2010
This course provides an analytical framework for transportation network analysis focusing on optimization. Definitions of equilibrium traffic flows and the solution algorithms for finding the transport equilibrium flows. The course discusses precise algorithms employed for finding dynamic network equilibrium flows via simulation and
mathematical programming approaches and the applications that relate to these flows.
Transportation Planning (CE 32600)
Fall 2020
Introduction to transportation planning concepts and methods. Travel demand forecasting. Transportation economics. Quantitative techniques in transportation planning: discrete choice models, regression methods and optimization techniques. Societal impacts including environmental, land use, safety and quality of life issues.
Transportation Systems Engineering (CE 32700)
Spring 2023
This course is an introductory-level course in design and operations of transportation systems. Primary areas of focus in the course will include traffic flow theory, traffic control, level-of-service and capacity analysis, operations, intelligent transportation systems, pavement materials, and highway and pavement design.
