Cirrently she is a Fulbright Visiting Professor at the City College of New York with the project “Linguistics on Trial, Linguistics in Media: Identifying and Prosecuting Incitement to Genocide (Ukraine Case Study)”. The project examines verbal aggression in public discourse from both legal and linguistic perspectives. In the context of modern information warfare, public statements that may be interpreted as calls for genocide raise difficult moral and legal questions. However, determining whether a statement constitutes incitement to genocide requires careful linguistic and legal analysis. Such statements are often conflated with other forms of incitement and hate speech, even though these categories need to be clearly distinguished. The project therefore seeks to identify linguistic markers that can help establish whether a public statement constitutes incitement to genocide and distinguish it from other forms of verbal aggression in legal practice.
