  • Embedded advising at your community college
  • Opportunities to connect with the CCNY community before transferring
  • A cohort experience that supports you academically, socially, and professionally

In partnership with CUNY community colleges, our pilot program walks with students every step of the way—from their start in community college, through transferring to CCNY, to crossing the graduation stage—ensuring they have the support, mentorship, and opportunities needed at every milestone.

Your Pathway to CCNY: A Guided Journey from BMCC to Graduation

The 1847 Academy Transfer Initiative is designed to support you at every stage of your academic journey—from your first semester at BMCC to the moment you earn your bachelor’s degree at CCNY. Our goal is to make your transfer experience smoother, clearer, and more supported.

Your Journey Through the Program

  1. Start Strong at BMCC
As a BMCC student, you’ll begin by connecting with our CCNY 1847 Academy transfer advisor. You will meet with your advisor each semester to review your academic plan, ensure you’re following the appropriate transfer pathway (TOP sheets), and stay on track for timely graduation with your associate degree.

  2. Graduate With Your Associate Degree
Once you complete your associate degree at BMCC, you’ll be ready to take the next step toward earning your bachelor’s degree.

  3. Apply to CCNY
When you’re ready, you’ll submit your transfer application to The City College of New York. Our team will help guide you through key parts of the transfer process, including understanding your credit evaluation and navigating next steps after you apply.

  4. Get Transfer Support From CCNY
If admitted, you’ll receive ongoing support from the 1847 Academy team—from reviewing how your credits apply toward your major, to understanding academic expectations, to preparing for your first semester at CCNY.

  5. Continue With Us Through Graduation
Your connection to the 1847 Academy doesn’t end once you transfer. You’ll continue checking in with us each semester as you progress through your CCNY degree, all the way through graduation. We’re here to help you stay on track, find opportunities, and reach your goals.
