Chief Operating Officer

Overseeing and managing Budget, Finance, Accounting and Financial Reporting, Purchasing, and Information Technology and Facilities/Physical Plant Services, Mr. Leonard F. Zinnanti was named Chief Operating Officer for CCNY in February of 2016.

Mr. Zinnanti has had a distinguished career both in the public service and cultural world spanning over 40 years. Since 2013, Mr. Zinnanti has served in the position of University Executive Controller for CUNY. Prior to his appointment as University Executive Controller, he served as the Chief Operating Officer of Hunter College for ten years.  At Hunter College, Mr. Zinnanti provided strategic leadership to implement the CUNY Compact, while sustaining and enriching campus facilities and administrative services to meet the demands of the student body and faculty during a period of continuous growth in enrollment.

Preceding Hunter College, Mr. Zinnanti served as the Chief Financial and Administrative Officer for the New York Philharmonic for almost 3 years; he also served multiple City of New York mayoral administrations for 28 years at the New York City Office of Management and Budget, rising to the position of Deputy Director. In this position he supervised and managed over 100 analysts in the review and budgetary control function for a majority of the City's agencies including Criminal Justice, Environmental Protection, Parks, Public Safety, Sanitation, Transportation, Libraries and Cultural Institutions.

Mr. Zinnanti holds a BA degree from Merrimack College, a MPA degree from SUNY Albany, and a certificate in Higher Education Management from Harvard University.
