The Bill Bernbach Diversity Scholarship Fund

Established in April 1998 by DDB Worldwide to recognize excellence in creative disciplines, talented diverse students are awarded $5,000 each year. The scholarships are awarded to students based on outstanding creative talent.

The scholarship program is funded by DDB Worldwide Communications Group, Inc. and it's employees, Omnicom, and outside donors. It is administered by AAAA Foundation, Inc., a charitable institution founded and operated in collaboration with the American Association of Advertising Agencies. 
 
ELIGIBILITY: African-American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian-American, Native Hawaiian or other Pacific, or Hispanic, are within 18 months of graduation, are a citizen, national or legal permanent resident of the United States, are full-time student.

Patrick Kelly Scholarship

This fund was established by Euro RSCG/New York in honor of the late Patrick Kelly, with the intention of recognizing the accomplishments and potential of an aspiring young creative. The recipient is chosen on the merits of his or her application, portfolio, and teacher recommendations, and will be awarded a grant of $2,000 at the Young Ones Student Awards Ceremony at the 2013 Young Ones Education Festival, to be held on May 7th in New York City.
 
ELIGIBILITY: This scholarship is awarded to students who are enrolled in college or advertising schools at the time of submission, and who intend to pursue a career in the advertising industry. Potential Copywriters and Art Directors are encouraged to apply. 
 
DEADLINE: April. Applications are available on The One Club site. Materials include: completed application form. Two letters of recommendations, images of 3-5 ads from your portfolio, and an essay.  
 
 

4A's Multicultural Advertising Internship Program

Through the Multicultural Advertising Intern Program (MAIP), students work at prestigious advertising agencies on various accounts, interact with advertising professionals on a day-to-day basis, and gain valuable professional credential that can help better position themselves in the marketplace.
 
Students selected for the annual 10-week paid summer internship program, which runs from early June to mid-August, will hone their skills in one of the following advertising disciplines: Account Management | Art Direction | Broadcast Production | Copywriting | Digital/Interactive Design | Internet Marketing | Media Buying | Media Planning | Project Management | Public Relations | Social Media | Strategic/Account Planning
 
ELIGIBILITY: Asian/Asian American, Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander, Hispanic/Latino, Black/African American, American Indian or Alaska Native, Multiracial or Multiethnic (e.g., Hispanic and Black); A citizen or permanent resident of the United States (visas are not accepted); Currently a college junior, senior, or graduate student at any accredited, degree-granting college or university, or a student attending an established portfolio school (including fall 2012 and spring 2013 graduates); Maintaining a minimum GPA of 3.0 out of 4.0. -- College juniors, seniors or second-year graduate or portfolio school students must meet the GPA requirement at the time the application is submitted. First-semester graduate students or transfer students must meet the GPA requirement with their Fall semester grades. Proof of GPA must be submitted via an official college transcript upon request. Soros Fellowships for New Americans

The purpose of The Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans is to provide opportunities for continuing generations of able and accomplished New Americans to achieve leadership in their chosen fields. The Program is established in recognition of the contributions New Americans have made to American life and in gratitude for the opportunities the United States has afforded the donors and their family. Includes a maintenance grant of $20,000 (paid in two installments) and a tuition grant of one-half the tuition cost of the US graduate program attended by the Fellow (up to a maximum of $16,000 per academic year).

Ornelas Minority Scholarship

ELIGIBILITY: Student must be pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree and be a qualified American citizen who has proven Latino heritage with at least one parent or grandparent of Latino heritage. Student must have participated in or be a AAAA MAIP (Multicultural Advertising Intern Program) Hispanic Intern in good standing. An essay of 250-500 words on the following topic "As a Latino I value ganas (passion), adelante (progress), Latino pride and diversity" must be submitted. Stipend: $5,000
 
 
 

Operation Jumpstart III

Through the AAAA Foundation, Operation Jumpstart scholarships are granted to students of diverse ethnic backgrounds at post-graduate portfolio schools in an effort to increase the diversity of art directors and copywriters in the advertising industry.

ANA Multicultural Excellence Fund 

Since 2003, the Association of National Advertisers has provided up to two MAIP interns with a one time scholarship of $2,500 to continue their education in the advertising field.
 
 

Worldstudio AIGA Scholarship

Annual awards for undergraduate or graduate students enrolled full-time at a postsecondary institution majoring in Advertising Art Direction, Animation, Architecture, Cartooning, Crafts, Environmental Graphics, Film/Theater Design,Film/Video, Fine Arts, Furniture Design, Graphic Design, Illustration, Industrial/Product Design, Interior Architecture, Interior Design, Landscape Architecture, New Media, Photography, Surface/Textile Design, or Urban Planning.
 
ELIGIBILITY: Students must have a minimum 2.0 GPA, be U.S. citizens/ permanent residents, and have financial need. Consideration given to minority students. Number of awards may vary. A personal statement must be included with application packet. Nonrenewable; recipients may reapply. Value $5,000.

Lagrant Foundation Scholarships

THE LAGRANT FOUNDATION annually provides 15 scholarships to undergraduate and graduate students who are attending accredited institutions and are pursuing careers in the fields of advertising, marketing or public relations. The foundation is a nonprofit 501 (c)(3) organization whose mission is to increase the number of ethnic minorities in the fields of advertising, marketing and public relations by providing scholarships, career development workshops, professional development, mentors and internships to African American, American Indian/Native American, Asian Pacific American and Hispanic/Latino undergraduate and graduate students.

The New York Women in Communications Foundation

The Foundation awards 15-20 scholarships each year, generally in the amount of $2,500, $5,000 or $10,000 each:
  • Esperanza Scholarship Awarded to a student of Hispanic heritage pursuing the dream of a career in communications. 
  • Judy Corman Memorial Scholarship and internship from Scholastic Awarded to a student interested in communications and media relations who is able to fulfill a paid internship at the company's New York City headquarters during summer 2013.
  • McGraw-Hill Companies Scholarship Awarded to a student interested in corporate communications and public relations.
  • Meredith Scholarship Awarded to a student who has demonstrated a commitment to a career in publishing (print, digital and /or marketing) and who has completed the sophomore year in college. Includes a summer internship in the Communications Department working on corporate and editorial CSR programs for college credit. 
  • New York Women in Communications Alumna Award of Excellence Awarded to a previous scholarship winner who is dedicated to strengthening NYWICI and has shown outstanding growth as a student since she first became a recipient. This scholarship is supported by the fund-raising efforts of previous scholarship winners.
  • WEtv Scholarship Awarded to a student pursuing a career in broadcast production.
In addition to general scholarships, the NYWICI also presents sponsored or named scholarships each year, some of which come with internships.
 
ELIGIBILITY:  
 
  1. graduate student pursuing a career in communication. Students should be majoring  or pursuing an advanced degree in a communications-related field including, but not limited to, advertising, broadcasting, communications, English, film, journalism, marketing, digital media, or public relations at an accredited college/university in the U.S.  
  2. Have an overall GPA of 3.2 or better  
  3. Graduate students applying and past scholarship winners who are reapplying must be NYWICI members in good standing (i.e., dues for the current year paid in full before applying - no exceptions).
  4. Those entering college or graduate school or transferring will have to provide verification of acceptance for the 2013-14 academic year to an accredited college/university in the U.S. If you have not received verification by the application deadline, you'll have to provide it as soon as possible, and no later than May 16.
  5. Must be a U.S. citizen and have a permanent residence in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut or Pennsylvania OR be a college student currently enrolled in a school located within the 5 boroughs of New York City.

Ketchum Excellence in PR Research Award 

The purpose of the award is to promote, foster and assist in the development of new research methods in public relations, focusing specific attention on measuring public relations effectiveness. The resulting research paper will be published on the Institute website.
 
$7,500 ten-week public relations research internship with Ketchum in New York City during the summer of 2013. Intern will report to Mary Elizabeth Germaine, Senior Vice President. The successful candidate will work an average of a 40-hour workweek with Ketchum Global Research & Analytics on a variety of assignments. These assignments will be for current or prospective Ketchum Research clients, and will be structured to provide a broad array of experience for the intern.  At the end of this experience, the Fellow will produce a research paper intended for practitioners, although others relevant to the furtherance of PR measurement and evaluation at Ketchum will be considered. The Fellow will receive a $2,500 stipend for the research paper after it has been accepted for publication by IPR.
 
IPR recommends the following topics:  What drives choice and changes behavior? Organizational communication; A broader context for social networking and what it means; Restoring reputation in an environment of extremely low trust; Models to predict the probability of public relationship outcomes. 
 
ELIGIBILITY: Graduate students majoring in public relations, communications, business, or research who have completed at least one year of study towards a Masters or Ph.D. degree and one research methodology course. Fluency in English is required. - See more here.

Chester Burger Scholarship for Excellence in Public Relations

$1,000 For grad students. Eligibility: Candidates must be enrolled or continuing in a graduate studies degree program in public relations, journalism or related fields, effective Fall 2013. Candidates must have an undergraduate GPA of at least 3.0 out of 4. Candidates do not have to be a PRSSA member to apply. The award may be used at any U.S. college or university offering a graduate program in public relations or related field. Entries will be judged by a committee of three senior public relations professionals, each of whom will represent one of the three founding organizations for this award.

Each year PRSSA and its sponsors give away nearly $20,000 to winners in national scholarship and awards competitions. Information and application materials for all scholarship and award programs are sent from national headquarters to PRSSA chapter faculty advisors according to the schedule listed on the PRSSA calendar. These materials are available to all PRSSA members. All scholarship, award, and competition information is also available in the PRSSA Chapter Handbook.

The Collective Bill Caspare Memorial Fund Diversity Scholarship 

The Collective Bill Caspare Memorial Fund Scholarship was established in 2015 by Collective LLC, through the O’Toole Media Awards, to support diversity in the New Media and Data Science disciplines within advertising and media.
The Fund was created in memory of former Senior Executive of Collective, Bill Caspare. Bill was a true industry innovator with over 15 years in new media/digital advertising. He was both a founding member and provided the strategic vision behind several successful digital ventures including db Ad Strategies, The Fifth Network, Oggifinoggi, and Vidible (which was acquired by AOL in 2014). In his time at Collective, he was a trusted advisor and mentor influencing and working to shape various aspects of Collective’s digital approach. Bill’s contributions to the industry as a whole will be seen in the waves of new media to come.
In 2016, two talented, diverse students will each be awarded $10,000 based on outstanding talent.
 
ELIGIBILITY
Students are eligible to apply and be considered for The Collective Bill Caspare Memorial Fund Scholarship if they meet the following criteria:
Are a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
Are African American, Asian American, Hispanic American, Native American, Multiracial or LGBTQ
Are a full-time student
Be a rising undergraduate junior or senior or a fully enrolled graduate student at the time of application
A GPA of 3.25 or above
Interest in pursuing a career in New Media/Digital Advertising and/or Data Science
