JoAnn Baylor started baking up her tasty creations in her basement long before opening her store front in Harlem. Make My Cake opened it's doors about 17 years ago, and since then, the family-operated business has received national attention, being featured in the New York Times food section as one of the best places to get Red Velvet Cake in the city and in the Food Network Show "Throwdown with Bobby Flay" (in which Make My Cake won). It's important to note that the recipes come from Joann's mother, Josephine. Make My Cake recently announced they're producing a new full line of sugar free products for diabetics.
