AAMC Awards Grants to Explore Role of Arts and Humanities in Medical Education

Dr. Lynn Hernandez

In January 2021, the CUNY School of Medicine (CUNY Med) along with seven other medical schools and teaching hospitals received a $25,000 grant from the  Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) to design a new methodology, or enhance existing methodology, to evaluate the impact of existing integrative arts and humanities programs or curricula across the developmental spectrum.

CUNY Med along with Baylor College of Medicine, Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, Georgetown University School of Medicine, Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Ohio State University College of Medicine, Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine, and Wayne State University School of Medicine were chosen because of their dedication to programs that serve veterans and underrepresented minorities.

Congratulations to our own, Dean Lynn Hernandez and her research team, Dean Erica Friedman and Director of Humanities in Medicine Samantha Barrick. Click here to learn more about the AAMC grant and the CSOM research proposal.
