Medical Education and Academic Affairs

Welcome to the Department of Medical Education at the CUNY School of Medicine.

The Department was established in 2013 to oversee, support and enhance the quality of the School’s medical education program.  We provide faculty development, as well as logistic and administrative support for designing, implementing, evaluating and revising courses and clerkships.  We have primary teaching and administrative responsibility for several courses in the Medical School curriculum, including Organ Systems and Practice of Medicine. We conduct research into effective means to deliver medical education and to improve our effectiveness at meeting our mission. We support the curriculum committee by providing data to facilitate review and analysis of the CSOM curriculum. We provide oversight for the accreditation and the Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) processes.  Our department includes the Office of Academic Affairs, the Learning Resource Center and the Course Support Office. These offices provide the infrastructure for implementing and evaluating the medical education program in order to assure optimal delivery of our 7 year integrated curriculum and for supporting the students’ educational needs. The department also interfaces with student services and support units including Admissions, Financial Aid and Registrar. It also manages institutional affiliations with our clinical partner sites and facilitates appointing our affiliate faculty to the CUNY School of Medicine.
