ABOUT US

The Physician Assistant society of the CUNY School of Medicine Physician Assistant Program intend on contributing to the expansion of the availability to proper health care in the Harlem community. The CUNY School of Medicine Physician Assistant Program recruits, educates, and mentors a diverse group of students from under-served communities to become physician assistants providing quality health care. The Program emphasizes primary health care and preventive medicine, and seeks to interest students in working in medically under-served areas. As such, we as students feel we should promote the PA program in order to increase applicants from the community we serve. We will be participating in various community service activities. We will also take this opportunity to unify all three classes of the PA program and give advice to students considering enrollment. The PA society will host events and participate in community out-reach events throughout the year.

As a club we also participate in annual statewide conferences hosted by NYSSPA (New York State Society of Physician Assistants) as well as national conferences hosted by the AAPA (American Academy of Physician Assistants). At these conferences, 4-6 current the CUNY School of Medicine PA students participate in medical jeopardy in which PA schools across the state and country compete for the defending title. On more then one occasion, in 1991,1993,1996,1997,2009, and 2012 the PA program students proudly competed against several New State PA schools and won medical jeopardy! We hope to continue to participate in these important events.
