In June 2009, the Division of Worker Education was renamed the Division of Interdisciplinary Studies at the Center for Worker Education.

In January 2007, CWE relocated to a new state-of-the-art facility at 25 Broadway.

In 2006, CWE celebrated its 25th anniversary.

In 2006, CWE had graduated 2,500 students with CCNY bachelor’s degrees.

CWE students earn over 15% of CCNY’s bachelor’s degrees each year.

Four CWE graduates have been CCNY’s valedictorians in the past 23 years.

In 2005, CWE was approved as a division of the CCNY College of Liberal Arts and Science.

CWE has had an average enrollment of 750 students per semester in the past five years.

The average age of CWE students is 30.

Currently our students come from 20 different unions.

Over half of our students are union members.

CWE offers over 175 courses every year, with 19 full-time faculty and staff plus over 60 part-time faculty and staff drawn from the various academic departments of City College and professionals in law, journalism, social services, and the arts.

Average class size is 25.

Most classes meet once per week and each course earns 4 credits.

Most classes meet after work and on Saturdays.

Some day time classes are coming on stream.

Students take 1-3 courses (4-12 credits) each semester.

B.A. in Interdisciplinary Arts and Science and B.S. degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE) are offered.

All courses as well as student services are located at CWE’s downtown Manhattan location.

A full-time staff of professional advisors offers comprehensive academic advisement.

Life experience program is available for those who qualify.
