About the PSM Program

The PSM is an innovative graduate degree designed to allow you to pursue advanced training and excel in science without a Ph.D., while simultaneously developing highly-valued business skills without an MBA.

The PSM is the TERMINAL degree, which prepare you for science careers in business, government, or nonprofit organizations, where workforce needs are increasing. Program is combining rigorous study in Environmental Science and Engineering with skills-based coursework in management, policy, or law. The PSM program emphasizes writing and communication skills, and requires a final project or team experience, as well as a "real-world" internship in a business or public sector enterprise.

PSM students learn career search skills, and some interact from their first day on campus with local business and public sector employers, who act as members of advisory board to the program. It is this close cooperation with local employers that guarantees that the skills and subject matter taught are cutting edge and relevant.

Where PSM Graduates Work

Potential employers of  PSM graduates range from large to small, national or multinational. Graduates with an interest in intellectual property and technology transfer are working with the federal government or for university technology transfer operations.  Regardless of the employment sector, PSM graduates are finding exciting, well-compensated careers. ESEE graduate program provides students with diverse educational backgrounds and perspectives in Earth science and Environmental Engineering.

Who should apply

Our interdisciplinary program attracts students with different backgrounds, not only in different engineering disciplines, but also from sciences (for example physics, applied mathematics,  chemistry etc. ).
However, even though the program is multi-disciplinary in nature, it is still technically rigorous and requires  high level mathematics through differential equations (4 semesters), 3 semesters of physics (including thermo-dynamics) and at least 1 semester of Computer Science Programming (with an average B grade), see more details here

Requirements for Admission

- Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university with GPA 3.0 or better;
- TOEFL score of 533 (73 on the internet based test) or better for international students;
- Two letters of recommendation;
- Resume;
- The personal essay explaining your motivation for pursuing a Masters degree in ESEE.

Curriculum

The PSM Degree in Earth Systems and Environmental Science and Technology requires minimum 30 credits, including

4 required courses covering core topics (12 credits)
1 distribution course and Internship (6 credits)
3 courses in a specific area of concentration (9 credits)
Final project: Internship with an employer in industry, government, or non-profit organization (3 credits)

Each of the concentrations requires a core of courses specific to it plus technical electives
