Born and raised in New York City, Alexander Cernei is a Macaulay Honors College student researching theoretical physics. Of particular interest to him are the fields of quantum information theory, particle physics, and mathematical physics. He plans to pursue a PhD in theoretical physics during which he hopes to work at the intersection of those fields, with the long-term goal of becoming a professor. Currently, Alexander is working on quantum cryptography research under Professor Mark Hillery. Outside of research, he is committed to helping bolster CCNY’s physics community and mentoring underclassmen. In his free time, he enjoys reading and making desserts.
