Mathematics/Computer Science Major
City College Fellow
Marino Echavarria is a computer science and pure mathematics student. Their research interests are varied. Marino is continuing to work with Ronak Etemadpour at City College on data visualizations and has been working on visualizing multidimensional urban weather data since Spring 2018. Outside of their work at City College, Marino has researched distributed graph algorithms at Johns Hopkins University under Michael Dinitz in the Summer of 2019. In the Summer of 2020, Marino researched under Ralph Morrison at Williams College in tropical geometry. In the future, Marino hopes to become a researcher in areas at the intersection of computer science and mathematics. They also hope to open up a learning center for the purpose of allowing young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to explore and tinker with both computers and mathematics in a low stakes and welcoming environment.
