Tips–DREAM US application

  • Meet the eligibility criteria

    • Be an undocumented immigrant with or without DACA or TPS who came to the U.S. before the age of 16 (for most scholarships) and continuously lived in the U.S. since then.
    • Have a high school or college GPA of 2.5 or better.
    • Demonstrate significant unmet financial need.
    • Enroll full-time in a bachelor's degree program at a TheDream.US Partner College. – CCNY is a partner College
    • Be eligible for in-state tuition at CCNY
       

  • Prepare a strong application

    • Apply early: Don't wait until the last minute, deadlines are firm.
      • The application guidelines and deadlines can vary year to year, so always consult the latest information directly from TheDream.US website.
    • Proofread your application: Avoid typos, grammatical errors, and ensure accuracy in all information that is provided.
    • Essays are crucial: This is your chance to tell your story and demonstrate your motivation and commitment to academic and career success.
      • Address the specific essay prompts and ensure your essays are personalized and include your experiences
      • Highlight your dedication to community service and any leadership roles you've held.
      • Share your experiences as a Dreamer and how they have shaped your identity and perspectives.
      • Articulate your future goals and how the scholarship will help you achieve them.
    • Showcase your extracurriculars: Include volunteer work, community service, and home responsibilities, as these demonstrate determination and a well-rounded character.
    • Submit all required documents requested: Ensure transcripts and any other requested documents are uploaded correctly and within deadlines.
    • Financial information: Provide the required financial information accurately
    • Stay organized: Keep track of your application status, check email regularly for updates, and make sure all attachments are processed and accepted.
