01. What is the focus of the MA in International and Transcultural Education?
The MA in International and Transcultural Education prepares students to understand educational systems, policies, and practices from a global perspective. The curriculum examines how culture, language, equity, globalization, migration, and international development influence education across diverse communities and learning environments.

02. Who should apply to this program?
The program is designed for educators, administrators, nonprofit professionals, higher education staff, corporate trainers, government employees, international development professionals, and others interested in global education, intercultural communication, and educational leadership. Students from a variety of academic and professional backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

03. Can I work while completing the program?
Yes. The program is designed with working professionals in mind. The fully online, asynchronous format allows students to complete coursework on a flexible schedule without the need to attend live class sessions.

While graduate coursework requires a meaningful time commitment each week, the flexibility of the program allows students to study when it best fits their schedules. Students who take courses part-time can typically complete the degree in approximately two years while continuing to work.

04. How long does it take to complete the program?
Students attending part-time can typically complete the master's degree in approximately two years.

05. Do I need a teaching certificate to enroll?
No. While many students are educators, a teaching certification is not required. The program welcomes applicants from a wide range of educational, nonprofit, government, business, and international professional backgrounds.

06. What makes this program unique?
The program combines a global perspective with practical application, preparing graduates to work effectively across cultures and educational contexts. Students learn alongside peers from diverse professional backgrounds while examining current issues that shape education in an increasingly interconnected world.

07. What support is available for online students?
Students have access to faculty advising, academic support services, online library resources, writing assistance, technical support, and other university resources designed to help them succeed throughout the program.

08. How is learning assessed?
Courses typically include research papers, case studies, discussions, collaborative projects, presentations, policy analysis, and applied assignments that encourage students to connect theory with professional practice.

09. Is Financial Aid available?
Students can work with the financial aid office to obtain graduate federal loans to cover tuition and expenses. Students are also encouraged to seek out external scholarships and sources of support. You may also wish to check with your employer to determine if tuition reimbursement is available.

10. Are transfer credits accepted?
Up to 9 transfer credits may be accepted. Please contact the Program Director to discuss your specific situation.

11. What are the application deadlines?
Applications for Fall admission are due by July 1, and applications for Spring admission are due by December 1. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis as space permits after each deadline.
