The American Institute of Architects’ Jury of Fellows has elevated George Ranalli, dean of The City College of New York’s Bernard and Anne Spitzer School of Architecture, to its College of Fellows. CCNY Students to Build Native American Community Center in S. Dakota

In recent years, The City College of New York's Engineers Without Borders-USA student chapter has spent summers and winter break working on water distribution and sanitation projects in rural Honduras. This winter, the chapter will extend its goodwill closer to home and help build a green and sustainable community center on a reservation. Five members of the chapter are headed to the Rosebud Indian Reservation in South Dakota to spend a week, January 20-27, helping develop a community center for the Sicangu Lakota and Rosebud Sioux tribes. Breakthrough Lights up Metamaterials

A City College of New York led-team has successfully demonstrated how to both enhance light emission and capture light from metamaterials embedded with light emitting nanocrystals. The breakthrough, headed by physicist Dr. Vinod Menon , could lead to a range of applications including ultrafast LEDs, nanoscale lasers and efficient single photon sources. Exhibit to Trace First Black Presence in the Americas

“Glimpses of Black People in the Earliest Documents of the Modern Americas,” an exhibit that traces the first African presence in the Americas, opens at The City College of New York Friday, May 1, 2015. It will be on view in the CUNY Dominican Studies Institute’s (DSI) exhibit room, NAC 2/202.
