The Office of Student Success (OSS) is committed to providing CPS students with mentoring opportunities. A mentor can play an important role in students’ academic, professional, and personal success by providing guidance and support during their time as a student and beyond.

What is a mentor?

Someone that has more life experience that can help guide you and provide support as you try to actualize and reach your goals.
Get involved in the OSS mentoring programs, as a mentor or mentee.

Student Success Guide Program

Get support and guidance from students who've been there!

The Colin Powell School Student Success Guide Program is a peer mentoring initiative meant to support you as you start your college career at CCNY. New students are paired with an experienced upperclassman who serves as a mentor and role model to help motivate them, focus on academics, and support them in achieving their goals.

The program can help you:
1.
Connect to available resources, services, and opportunities on campus
 
2.
Discuss concerns or challenges you may experience as a new or transfer student
3.
Build strong relationships with faculty and staff

 
4.
Gain individualized mentorship, support, and direction from a fellow student
 


Student Success Guides and mentees are expected to meet three (3) times per semester
and get to participate in a variety of events and workshops.

Mentee applications are currently accepted on a rolling basis.

JPMorgan Chase -Advancing Black Pathways Mentoring Program

The Colin Powell School has developed a partnership with JPMorgan Chase Advancing Black Pathways Initiative. This mentoring program is designed to introduce talented and motivated undergraduate freshmen and sophomores to the financial services industry, build early professional development skills and provide defined pathways to future opportunities.

 

CPS students get paired with experienced JPMorgan Chase professionals working in a variety of areas, including; Finance, Business Development, Marketing, Public Relations, Human Resources, and many more.


2022-2023 program applications will open in the Summer 2022.
