Bruce Billig

 Dr. Bruce M. Billig's career in education has come full circle with his return to City College. With Dr. Billig's appointment to the position ofDirector of the Office of Field Experiences for The City College School of Education he returns to his alma mater where he earned his B.S. in Chemistry, M.A. in Secondary Science Education, and M.S. Ed. in Administration and Supervision. He then went on to earn his Ed. M. in Guidance and Counseling and his Ed. D. in Curriculum and Teaching from Teachers College, Columbia University.

Dr. Billig has had an extensive career in education with the New York City Department of Education. He began his career in education as a Chemistry Teacher and then assumed various positions of increasing responsibility including Dean of Students, Grade Advisor, Guidance Counselor, Coordinator of Guidance Services, Assistant Principal-Guidance and finishing up as a High School Principal. Dr. Billig was instrumental in creating and implementing numerous motivational programs for at-risk students, including Operation Fresh Start, Renaissance Awards, and Stay in the Game. He was an innovator in designing several notable Career and Technical Education programs such as, The Toyota Technical Institute and The Duane Reade Educational Center.

Following his retirement from the Department of Education, Dr. Billig worked as a Field Specialist for Fordham University mentoring beginning teachers in the Teaching Fellows and Teach for America programs. In addition, he was an adjunct professor for the Research and Assessment course in Fordham University's Graduate School of Education. Dr. Billig also served as a Professional Developer for the Regional Education and Technology Center in partnership with Region 2 schools.

Supervision of Fieldwork and Student Teaching Placements.

Focus on the training of pre-service students through their clinical practices in teacher education

Supervision of the Math and Science undergraduates in the Teacher Academy Program

Collaboration with our partnership schools within the New York City public schools
