Matthew K. Witter

Associate Director and Adjunct Professor at CCNY

Dr. Witter has been at CCNY since August 2019. He started out as a Student Psychological Counselor and is now an Associate Director/Student Counseling Manager in the Counseling Center at CCNY. He is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and has been practicing since 2016. In addition to his full-time role, he is an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Psychology department at CCNY.

Dr. Witter has his doctorate (Psy.D.) in clinical psychology from the Alliant International University-California School of Professional Psychology in San Francisco, CA. He specializes in working with college students, adolescents, transition-aged adults, people with disabilities, people who identify as LGBTQ+/Queer, and people with marginalized identities. In his teaching capacity, Dr. Witter has taught undergraduate and graduate students in Abnormal Personality, Theories of Psychotherapy, Multicultural Issues in Counseling, Career Psychology, Theories of Personality, Clinical and Counseling Psychology, and Adolescent Development.

Outside his work with CCNY, Dr. Witter has a small private practice where he sees teenagers and adults. The majority of clients he sees identify as Queer. He primarily sees clients via Zoom and has a part-time office in Chelsea. In his free time, Dr. Witter is an avid league bowler (yes bowling is a sport) and his highest game is 299. He also enjoys the gym, running, spending time with his cat, seeing a Broadway show, and exploring NYC. As a California native, he is finally adjusting to the northeast winters.
